A
recent survey of my practice (2002 audit) showed that most patients got
better after a short course of treatment (3-6 sessions) and they usually
knew quite quickly whether homeopathy was suitable for them. Those patients
who are generally healthy require only minimal treatment. Others, with more
serious or chronic health problems, will probably need longer support to
get better. But the amount of treatment is as individual as you are.
The first consultation
involves being asked a lot of questions about your symptoms, past medical
history and family medical history. Homeopaths are particularly interested
in any unusual areas or traits or symptoms which are unique to you.
In this way, I build
up a picture of you and your sensitivity to illness before carefully selecting
the appropriate remedy. First consultations are usually 1-1½ hours
for adults or 1 hour for children and babies. I prescribe homeopathic
medicine, in the form of a sugar pill, either at the end of the consultation
or soon after via the post with clear instructions on how to take it.
I like to see patients
1-4 weeks later to check on progress. Follow-ups are shorter, 45 minutes
to 1 hour. Should you need to talk to me, in between appointments, I often
have call-in times during the week (check anwerphone 01225
851370). Also, I belong to a professional group practice which provides
holiday cover, in the form of a locum homeopath, during the few occasions
when I am not working. I don't work at weekends.

Charges include prescription
of the remedy and any subsequent advice which can be discussed over the
phone (01225 851370). However, I do charge extra for lengthier treatment
over the phone at the rate of £20 (1-30 minutes) and £35 (30-60
minutes). Parents of patients are advised to keep a small kit of remedies
at home.
These fees are payable
by cash or cheque at the end of the consultation and are revised annually.
I require a full working day's notice (ie 24 hours) if you decide to cancel.
I do charge for missed appointments unless there is really good excuse.
